Dedicated readers may remember seeing pictures of the pond that sits behind our house in this post.

From the real estate listing.
We've added a fence around the yard.
The pond is just a little stormwater management pond, no more than four feet deep at the greatest depth. The park area around it is maintained by the city and is part of a connected network of trails and mini-parks that thread through our neighbourhood. The parks and pond were a huge "plus" in the decision to purchase this home.
The pond is teeming with wildlife, including geese, ducks, rabbits and frogs. We also see an osprey and a hawk.
The light bouncing off the pond in the afternoons gives the back yard a wonderful, sparkling glow.

In the winter, the pond moves from being a mere backdrop for play time to being an actual playing field.

In the fall, vibrant autumn colors and textures surround the pond.

The "big kids" play hockey. Nonstop.
This guy even tried a little wake boarding on Easter Sunday, using a motorized winch, a wetsuit and a lot of determination.
After multiple attempts, he finally got it right. It's just a pond, not the ocean. It's not even a very large lake.

I think everyone knows that your lovely pond is the inspiration for the Great Pond Expansion of 2010 (still) currently underway at our house.
