Now: Birthday AND Father's Day

Today was a double celebration for Instant Family because it was both Father's Day and V's Birthday. We set out early for Elora Quarry, an old quarry that is now a recreational swimming area. Mommy had a giant photo FAIL, in that she brought the camera but, failed to bring the oh-so-necessary memory card. Thus, the photos of the day`s fun-tivities were taken with Daddy's smart phone.

Elora Quarry - the water is a beautiful teal blue.
It was empty when we arrived but, by mid-day,
dozens of people were swimming out to the rock wall.

Daddy on Father's Day

Hurry Up! We're COLD!

We enjoyed a (somewhat sandy) picnic lunch.

Hard to see in this pic, but there is a river on the other side of the beach.

In the "down" time of the afternoon, while the little girls were sleeping, the rest of us managed to squeeze in (at varied times) a visit to the off-leash dog park, lawn mowing, and some quick errand running. Whew! It's tiring just typing all that out!

There was still more fun left in the day! After dinner (Daddy's pick = take out fish and chips), we gave V her final round of birthday gifts and then we enjoyed a shared Father's Day/Birthday cake.

V received a birthday gift of a sand/water table from Grandma K. and Poppa K. -- which was bought on their behalf by Mommy. While V could not be more delighted, Mommy is realizing that she wasn't entirely thinking through the inevitable result of sand + water.

We managed to hold the twins back for a few moments,
to allow V time to enjoy her present.

Then all three girls dove in with gusto.

The sand/water table took about 3 minutes to turn into a mud table.

What a mess!

Cousin T and Daddy just sat back and laaaaauuuuughed!

I was thinking all water. The sand is going to kill me. There is a park near us with very find gravel around the playset that all the neighbourhood kids use as a sandbox. I think that will have to do at this point.
