All of the Beach, None of the Salt Water

In the last days of summer, we were invited to spend the day at Lake Huron with our Nanny. Nanny Em has worked for our family for two days a week since early this year and was invaluable during the move.   It has been great to have her with our family, because with her help, all of the girls get more one-on-one attention, as well as the opportunity to a wider range of activities.

A quintessential part of Canadian/Ontario culture includes making a summer retreat to cottage country, with many families spending a week or two by a lake in the northern parts of the province. When making this escape, Canadialanders tend refer to Lake Huron or Georgian Bay as "The Beach" and when Mommy and Daddy hear this we always try not to giggle because it is only a lake, and, really, how beach-y can a lake really be??  Nanny's parents have been going to Lake Huron in the summer for over 20 years and were kind enough to host us for a visit.

Holy Snikeys! It's an actual beach.
So sorry for laughing at you, Canadialanders!

The twins had no fear of the water and ran in with no hesitation.
They were promptly knocked down by a wave,
which made them a little more reluctant.
For about 30 seconds.

V made one brief visit to the water, disliked it immensely
and plopped herself down to play in the sand.

W was so exhausted by The Beach that she
voluntarily gave herself a little half hour rest time.

Fresh water! No sticky salt residue!

Many thanks to Mrs. B for hosting us and playing with all the kids!
