Things Are Never As Bad As You Expect . . .

Before we received our adoption referral, Daddy's grandparents moved from Ohio to Arizona, where his aunt and cousins already lived. Daddy's grandma had been so excited about the adoption from the first time we told her our plan and, when she moved, we promised that we would bring The Baby out to visit her. Then came Twinny Goodness, Number Three, Canadialand . . . you know. But a promise is a promise and the weather in Arizona is fabulous this time of year so, with the help of Grandma and Grandpa K., we set off on our first cross-country adventure.

We had some anxious moments in the days leading up to this trip, thinking about travelling with the three kids. In reality, it was really an easy flight and the girls were very well behaved -- we hope it goes as smoothly on the way home.

Here's the pros and cons from the first day of our trip:

CON: The airport was crowded full of families with huge numbers of people in a group and massive amounts of luggage.
PRO: We didn't stick out because of our giant pile of suitcases and no one noticed us. Yeah, right. "Are they twins?" is the background music of our life.

CON: Daddy Someone forgot to properly fasten W's diaper so she was soaked in tinkle by the time we made it to our gate.
PRO: The giant pile of luggage meant we were prepared for any eventuality, from shark bite to lightning strike to a little girl in tinkle pants.

CON: The plane is tiny and small.
PRO: The plane is new and fun!! Airsickness bags make great toys!!

CON: Noodles are messy!
PRO: Noodles are messy . . . and delicious!

CON: Where are we? What time is it? Why are we so dehydrated?
PRO: Visiting Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa K.!! We got to eat dinner with the extended family at the dining room of the great-grandparents' retirement complex.

CON: Pianos are loud.
PRO: Pianos are loud! And music-y! Cousin P is Super Fun!

CON: Ice cream is messy.
PRO: Ice cream is delicious.

We're still out west, having fun so we'll post more as soon as we get a chance!

God bless you. I am exhausted just reading about your airport trip.
