Waterloo Park

We took W and R to Waterloo Park to enjoy the "tropical" weather today. The park is very developed with lots of trails, a food pavilion, a small "farm" zoo, victorian gardens, a lake and other family friendly amenities. The twins were unimpressed. They were well behaved but very sedate and passive.

We visited all the animals - llamas, ducks, bunnies, goats, miniature ponies and roosters. The twins really didn't seem to care. They didn't fuss; they didn't smile; they didn't do much of anything. After visiting the animals, we ate a picnic lunch, which the girls ate pretty calmly.

They did perk up a little after lunch and enjoyed running around in the grass. They get a lot of outside time but, mostly in the stroller or on our deck. As such, their experience with vegetation is limited -- we are somewhat cautious after multiple "baby-eats-plant" incidents in China.

We've been working on teaching the twins to use baby signs to communicate their needs. Generally, W is more proficient than R and uses her signs many times a day. R didn't hesitate to use her signs today when we bought french fries to go with our lunch - she would shove two in her mouth and then immediately sign "Help Me" and "More". Then R started saying "Mo!" while signing "More". Food Motivated? So is Harper.
