Instant-er Than Your Average Family

A few weeks ago, Instant Family took baby steps towards a camping vacation, by starting with a jaunt to a cabin, with a/c, running water and a flushing toilet. While Mommy and Daddy have done a few backcountry hikes and lived out of a pack for a few days at a time, we just can't figure out how to even begin sleeping in a tent and cooking on a camp stove with three little girls. At this point, "roughing it" involves bringing our own linens and using lots of bug spray.

We set up camp at Jellystone Park, near Ohiopyle, PA, with the help of Grandma and Poppa G.

Jellystone had a great selection of activities:

Even so, highlight of our stay was the campfire and obligatory marshmallows.

Daddy and Poppa made the fire.

Mommy provided roasting instructions.

R battles her marshmallow.

W was blissfully unaware that
she was coated in marshmallow.

V. and Poppa G., enjoying the evening.

All in all, a successful camping attempt. Maybe next year we'll try a tent. Or not.
