Sometimes You CAN Go Home Again

Before Instant Family was even a thought, Mommy and Daddy spent many a weekend morning tromping through the 130+ acres of Sewickley Heights Park. The beauty of this park is that it isall off-leash for dogs and also includes a number of horse trails. Mommy even hid a geocache in the park. While waiting to adopt from China, we often imagined bringing our baby and the dog for a Saturday morning hike through the park. We never made it to the park in the short six weeks that Mommy lived in the area with the twins before moving to China.

While traveling to Grandma and Poppa G.'s house, Instant Family made an impromptu stop at the park and checked in on Mommy's geocache. Things just fell into place - we needed to break our journey right near the exit for the park, the girls were all in fine spirits, the weather was clear and Daddy was feeling unusually flexible. Despite the sweltering heat, it was a great stop.

The park was just as we remembered ...

The girls liked wandering in the open field where we used to run Harper.

Daddy was grinning ear to ear as he ran in the open space with his dog.

Daddy wasn't grinning quite so broadly when he had to carry V to and from the cache.
He said it was like carrying a 35 pound oozing marshmallow on his shoulders.

W checking out the contents of Mommy's geocache.
The cache was in good order and still stocked full of good trade items.

Daddy also liked playing with the trade items in the cache.
