It is with a sad heart that we must report that W and R are looking so much less"twinny" these days. The "experts" tell us to help each child cultivate her own identity . . . never "make" them dress alike . . . let them have different interests and friends. But, still, it is a sad day, a sign of two little girls growing up.
W and R chose different haircuts.
R and W
This change has been brewing for a couple of weeks. The twins have been growing their hair out since Spring. Lately, W has been showing a low tolerance for hair drying, hair brushing or any of the maintenance required by long hair. R will tolerate any amount of pulling and poking, for the sake of looking "pretty". We've talked about how short hair and long hair are different; also bangs vs. no bangs.
They were delighted when they saw each other for the first time with the new looks. After looking and laughing for a few seconds, R busted out loudly: "W! You look like KaiLan! You look like in China!". Um, yes? Even haircuts can get a little complicated for Instant Family.
