Back to the Rat Race

We're back home in Canadialand. Daddy went to work today for the first time in 16 days. Of course, Daddy being Daddy, he did a little work here and there over the last two weeks.

We'll have a busy week getting back into our routine -- signing up for programmes, getting vaccinations, a required follow-up meeting with an adoption social worker, and so forth. Before life gets back to being mundane and busy, here's a final look back at our holiday adventures.

The flight home from Arizona was uneventful. It is fully an hour shorter and all three girls slept about half of the time.
Big round of applause to Continental airlines, who gave us a small meal on both of the flights. Anymore, most airlines offer only food for purchase, if anything.
On the return flight, the meal was a hot chicken sandwich and a salad. W discovered her love of salad during the last couple of weeks and will eat it by the pound. Previously, both girls would chew lettuce, then spit it out in a mushy mess. The salads kept both W and R entertained for an hour or so as she meticulously speared and munched each piece. Tragically, R had all the salad that she ate stuffed in her cheeks like a chipmunk and then spit it out all over Daddy's hands.

W shows mad fork skills.

R takes a bite of the best chicken sandwich ever served on an airplane.

After we got home and rested up, we rang in the New Year at Grandma and Grandpa K's, having a wild party with Uncle D, Aunt J and Cousins "Toad-y" and R. It wasn't quite the same as our recent New Year celebrations, but it was a new, different kind of fun. The twins stayed up to a crazy late time of 8:30 p.m. and were beyond meltdown at that point.

After they went to sleep, we played board games, Daddy played some nutty flashlight hide and seek in the basement with the cousins and we had copious snacks.

Daddy won the game of Clue.
Daddy celebrates winning the game of Clue.
To our surprise, this was gone by 12:01 p.m.
We averaged 1.25 liters per person
drinking from this keg.
