We were busy during our travels to the U.S. - many thanks to Grandma and Grandpa G for hosting the baptism and to Grandma and Grandpa K who travelled to visit with us.
After a busy week visiting and travelling, we returned home hoping to settle in and rest before getting back to the daily routine. Surprise! We arrived home to find that the windows in the Deluxe Apartment in the Sky had been replaced - much to our surprise - leaving a legendary mess of rusty screws, plaster and destroyed window treatments. We had requested that the window replacement in our unit be delayed until our return and had been assured that this would not be a problem . . . alas, such is the life of a renter. On the bright side, the new windows are fab and have made the Deluxe Apartment much quieter -- the wind is wicked when you're up nineteen stories.
On a related note, we've also been meeting with our realtor almost nightly to view homes for sale, as we attempt to purchase a house in some sort of bizarro booming micro-economy as our region a seems to be exempt from the Global Financial Crisis. No real estate downturn here! We're finding that (desirable) homes are selling for thousands over list price and potential buyers battle it out by foregoing inspections and bending to sellers' conditions regarding closing and transfer. The houses that tend to linger on the market or be open for negotiation have problems like backing on to a major road or being near the dump.
Instant Family would like an Instant House, please.
