Girly Girls

W and R are starting to show a girly side. They love to play with purses and hats and little toy cell phones. They also enjoy putting "pretend" creme on themselves, each other and anyone who will let them.

We are fortunate here in Canadialand to have access to excellent services for children, including the Early Years Centre, which is basically a community centre with (mostly free) activities and programming for kids under the age of six. One of the services there is a toy lending library, where we can check out a wide variety of toys for two weeks at a time.

Recently, Mommy used the toy library to bring home a beauty salon set up which included hair curlers, brushes, a hair dryer, etc.

R's bad hair day is so terrifying that she must wear a hat.

W to the Rescue! Bad Hair Begone!

Whew! Much better!

The curlers seemed to confuse them greatly.
Frankly, curlers confuse Mommy too.

Beauty School Dropout?

As we've mentioned once or twice before, the twins are "climbers" so toy kitchens and other large play sets are eventually used to scale a piece of furniture, a baby gate, or to climb into the pack and play with Baby V. The beauty salon operated for about a week as a salon qua salon. Then the chairs were re-purposed as stepping stools and the sink was knocked over become a ramp up to the window sill. So, the whole salon business was promptly packed up and returned to the library.
